Reviews for Sour Pickle Cafe
Review highlights
Based on 285 reviewsSour Pickle Cafe is widely appreciated for its welcoming atmosphere and distinctive pickle-themed decor, which adds a unique charm to the dining experience. Customers consistently praise the generous portion sizes and flavorful breakfast offerings, including popular dishes like omelets, potato sides, and specialty beverages such as bubble tea. The service is generally prompt and friendly, with staff accommodating reservations and providing extras like to-go coffee. However, some guests have noted challenges with menu flexibility, particularly regarding dietary restrictions. While prices tend to be on the higher side, patrons feel the quality and quantity justify the cost. Overall, Sour Pickle Cafe stands out as a cozy, flavorful spot favored for hearty breakfasts and attentive hospitality.
Wandering, looking for breakfast. As we walked toward what we thought we were going to have for breakfast, we passed the Sour Pickle. The smell of breakfast wafting from the restaurant grabbed my sniffer and led us to the front of the store to look at the menu. A Quick Look and we decided to give the pickle a go. Me and the boss decided on the Mexican omelet and a coffee. What a meal. Toast and crisp, delicious hash browns shared the plate with the main attraction, an enormous three egg omelet stuffed with peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and onions topped with cheese and salsa sauce. The boss had me finish her omelet but by God I finished all mine too…. Thankfully we had a walk back to the hotel to work some of that big breakfast off.Prices are in line with every other place here in Victoria, however this is a local, husband and wife team that make awesome food and seem genuinely happy to be serving their brand of home cooking to the people. I wouldn’t hesitate to drop in again when we return and try another menu item, wish we had found you sooner!
Very good place to have breakfast. No line up but steady busy. Our meal was good. Lots on our plate. We were both full after eating our meal. My husband had an omelette and I had bacon and eggs. Both came with toast and fried potatoes. Also had coffee and an orange juice. Served quickly. A little expensive at 62.00, but that's what it costs these days. She gave us coffee to go as part of our meal.
Had a heavy travel day yesterday, needed a breakfast spot for a table of six. Called in advance and able to get a reservation if we were there in 10 minutes. The food was a huge portion size. Bonus that they had bubble tea. The only issue was one of our party has a gluten allergy and they were not willing to substitute more hash towns and remove the English muffin for the egg Benedict, but were able to remove the toast for more hash browns with the omelette… We don’t know why one but not the other. We had the veggie omelet, Mexican omelette, breakfast sandwich, and bacon plate. We saw there is an 5% charge if you use any card other than a Canadian debit card. Overall, happy for our party with this find today!
Such a cute place. I admit I like picked so the name drew me in. Most delicious potato salad ever.
The owner was very friendly and the cafe was decorated in pickle themed decor the food was tasty, especially my potatoes and peach boba.
Great service and good food!! Really loved the vibe of the restaurant too! 10/10
Small and cozy.Service was friendly. It's kind of like home cooked food but better. I'm in love with the breakfast baker. I'm glad this place is far away or I would be eating every day.
I had breakfast at the cafe on a recent trip to Victoria and had a very pleasant experience. Would highly recommend for a home cooking experienceThe location is very central - right at Johnson Bridge Store Street - close to the harbour, shopping, Chinatown.I had the breakfast with scrambled eggs sausages and toast. Everything was made from scratch (just like home cooking!) fresh and delicious. Portions were generous. Just hit the spot. In addition the coffee is bottomless cup. It’s a family run cafe and service was courteous and friendly. The decor is very whimsical and cheerful with special place for pickle decorations . There is a small outdoor seating area for nicer weather days.Very reasonably priced and a much cozier, friendlier start to the day than at bigger restaurants in the area. There were regulars when we dined there which added to the cozy ambience.
